I and my colleague Cllr Allan Gow have requested an urgent meeting tomorrow (7th October) with all groups involved in the plans to close Bilsland Drive for three weeks which I understand is related to the Bellway development at the former Ruchill Hospital.

Details of the closure and a major route diversion for the FirstBus service 90 bus can be found here

We need to better understand the reasons for the road closure and the process which has been undertaken in securing the closure. It is also vital to highlight the significant impact that there could be to the local community and - importantly - to give consideration as to what alternative measures to mitigate impact can be undertaken or put in place.

Given local schools may be particularly impacted I will be asking that any closure is delayed until the 17th of October which is the start of the October Week holiday. That would give time for mitigations to be considered.

I have also had concerns from elderly residents and those with mobility issues who rely on public transport about the impact on them. In particular concerns have been raised about accessing supermarkets. First Glasgow, Bellway and Glasgow City Council have agreed to attend an urgent meeting tomorrow.
