Parliament
Today I highlighted the highly dangerous former Promat site in Springburn with the First Minister.
I have been pursuing serious safety concerns for some time and will meet Glasgow City Council, Police Scotland and SEPA again next week. The site is an accident waiting to happen and needs cleared.
Full question
Bob Doris MSP:
After a recent series Fire at the Banned Improvement site and in spring, Bond left local communities for two days, ensuring station smoke and fumes and firefighters putting their lives at risk. The fire services told me they believe the seat is a major hazard and a danger to anyone entering it. And given the scale, they say it cannot possibly be made safe.
Can I ask the First Minister that given there are there may be insufficient powers to allow the local authorities effectively intervene to get the onus to meet the complex as safe as possible and ultimately clear the seat? Will this Court meet with me to discuss what powers may exist or indeed Presiding Officer, which powers may be required, and thus police action on seats such as proven springboard to better protect our communities?
First Minister:
I'm grateful to both also for raising the issue of the trauma site in Springburn. And of course I will wait for the details from Bob Dorris. But in response to his direct question, I'm more than happy for the Scottish Government, the relevant Minister, to engage with both parties to see if there's anything further we can do to address the issues that Bob told us quite rightly in the Chamber.
