Welcome,
It is a privilege to represent the Glasgow Maryhill and Springburn constituency as your Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP).
I stay in Maryhill with my wife Janet, together with my young son and daughter. Before I became an MSP, I was a secondary school teacher for 10 years. Since first being elected as a Glasgow MSP in 2007 I have worked hard to deliver for local constituents. As your constituency MSP, I will contiune to help to protect the communities I know best, and deliver to all people in Maryhill and Springburn

Remembering Firefighter Adrian McGill
It was a privilege to meet Shirley, daughter of fallen firefighter Adrian McGill. His bravery and selflessness saved several but cost Adrian his life 50 years ago during a Maryhill Road fire. The Fire Brigade's Union plaque unveiled today is a poignant tribute and I was pleased to mark occasion in the Scottish Parliament as well.
Scottish Child Payment Increase
The Scottish Child Payment has been increased from £20 to £25 per week per child, meaning 22,830 families in Glasgow are set to receive a boost to their household incomes from the Scottish Government. This is now £100 every 4 weeks.
Disability Payments (Means Testing)
The UK Government are considering means testing disability payments. Today in the Scottish Parliament I asked the Deputy First Minister if the Scottish Government will rule out such an approach here.

I'm supporting Baby Loss Awareness Week
I have been asked by constituents to draw awareness to Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 Oct) I'm well aware of the profound impact baby loss has on families. We must always look to improve support for families but support is out there. More details at https://www.mygov.scot/child-baby-death
